I am almost back to sanity as well. I say almost because I am learning what it is like to live and work in Rome, minus the school aspect. I am doing an internship in public relations with a firm that works all throughout Europe that requires me to constantly monitor my email and scheduling, do research and small tasks while running around the city. And I was blessed with the opportunity to work as an advisor for a University program which accepts highschool students for the month of July. So while I am learning to work, live, have a social life, and run around this complicated city, I am helping pre-college students as well!
Allora, l'avventurra. The adventure. A true adventure. Three years ago, I had no idea what I was doing in University. Two years ago I was living off a promise to myself to find a way to come back and live in Rome. One year ago, I was saving money and packing bags for the year I had ahead. Six months ago I landed two jobs that would bring me back to Rome. One day ago, I said to myself, I've done it!
Looking back, I realized the I had seriously misplaced passion until I was introduced to a life I didn't dream of. Rome represents more to me than I could ever write in my memory or on paper. How corny, how cheezy to say... I realize how silly this sounds, but atleast I can acknowledge that I have reached that point so many people talk/write about. When someone finds their personal legend (in the words of Paolo Coelho), everything/everyone in the Universe assists that person in reaching it. The signs are all around you whether you see them or not. In a nutshell, I have been truly blessed, and I am here because I knew I needed to come back for unknown reasons, but because everything around me knew it, too. In multiple ways, I have found the definition of passion.
From now on, I know that if there is something I want bad enough, it is so possible to make it happen. Not many things can be out of reach now. I am OK with change, because making changes is what woke me up.
On that note, I have been doing so much in the past few months, that if I stop and try to list them, I am surprised with all I've done. From travelling, to a wedding :), to visiting so many people, to planning more trips, to small trips around Italy, to making new friends, to joining networks, to attending concerts, to gaining peoples trust, and then working for them, to improving in the Italian language, finishing classes on a great note, and yadi yadi........ life doesn't sound so bad, does it?!
I will be back with more details, some stories. For now, just wanted to say, 'CIAO!'
